Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership Consultant
Robert Matheny is an Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership Consultant specializing in change management, ensuring that system and infrastructure upgrades are well received by management and employees and become permanent. With a background as a healthcare administrator and leadership coach, Robert has expertise in interpersonal relationships, communication, organizational leadership, clinical delivery operations, practice improvement, organizational culture, change management, and team dynamics.
In his most recent professional role leading the neurophysiology team at Henry Ford Health, he oversaw a team of forty technicians, support staff, and leaders across two in-patient units and six ambulatory clinics. Robert created an $800k/mo swing in revenue within his first 6 months by upgrading staffing and culture. Additionally, Robert manages several strategic and capital projects within the neuroscience service line. He has also lead the finances, strategy, and people management for this department.
A "pracademic" with a focus on translational and interventional research addressing real-world problems, he holds an M.S. in Clinical Counseling and will soon earn an M.S. in Communication Studies. Robert is faculty for the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Annual Vanguard Leadership Institute and a fellow of urban/ethnic leadership at the Arrow Leadership Institute. His research as an Interpersonal and Intergroup communication scholar delves into the intersections of ideological, relational, and professional conflict.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Robert played a critical role in his hospital's incident command response and provided strategic advisement on the psychological well-being of the frontline workforce. He has since spoken to national audiences about the impact of trauma on healthcare workers and the necessity for a trauma-informed approach to executive leadership and organizational strategy.
Outside of work, Robert is a husband, dog dad, biker, and traveler.
